See here for a list of all involved titles.Īlthough the story features the destruction and recreation of the Marvel Universe, it is not a Continuity Reboot, as all the events from before Secret Wars were still canon. Many other limited series recreated old stories or settings, also set in a Battleworld domain. The vast majority of Marvel comics were cancelled for the duration of the crossover, replaced by limited series set in a Battleworld domain. In addition to the Avengers comics that led to it, there were many ones that provide further introductions as closer preludes. A world formed out of the broken remains of the lost universe. Two ships survive and arrive on Battleworld. The final incursion destroys both universes, but the destruction of the Multiverse is not complete. By the beginning of the story, only two universes remain in all the multiverse: Earth-616, home of the Marvel Universe, and Earth-1610, home of the Ultimate Marvel universe. In recent months, The Illuminati and The Cabal have been trying to save Earth: either by trying third options or by outright destruction of alternate worlds.
The Incursions are a phenomenon between two universes that destroyed both of them, unless one universe' Earth destroyed the other, which saved it. The Multiverse is collapsing because of the actions of the Beyonders. It is not a sequel, though, just a Recycled Title. It is named after the first Secret Wars crossover from 1984, as it shares some plot points with it. Secret Wars is a 2015 Crisis Crossover in Marvel Comics, by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić.
